The Ibis Experience

The Ibis Collaborative immerses participants in an interactive experience among a community of common interests and a diversity of opinions and perspectives. Through regular, weekly or semi-monthly sessions, a skilled facilitator provides resources and facilitates discussions on topics of shared interest. Employing storytelling, the Collaborative encourages everyone to participate based on the underlying belief that learning is a social act. Participants will hear from fellow community members and outside experts, stimulating intellectual engagement and inviting them to share and defend their perspectives.

Participants strengthen existing friendships and develop new ones, enhancing their sense of community and social engagement. They are exposed to new ideas and perspectives, discovering rich sources of information. To get the most out of the experience, participants should come prepared. Most participants find themselves eagerly anticipating the next session and often engage with each other outside of the structured sessions. The Collaborative encourages this, as learning and community neither begin nor end at Ibis’ doorstep.

The Ibis Experience is a rewarding and fun experience best understood through the reflections of Community members

“Participation in lifelong forums like Ibis stimulates my mind, stretches my imagination, and also creates a community of socialization that adds to my sense of well-being and belonging.”

Judy Marcus, BJBE Community

“I love being part of the Informed discussion with intelligent, thoughtful people who do the work and also the directed readings/podcasts. It's a salon in the best definition of the word.”

Ellen Fishberg, Wise Opinionated Women Group

“The group to which I belong are people whom I see often, but with whom I don’t often get a chance to discuss the issues of the day - the Ibis Group affords us that opportunity.”

MDG, BJBE Community

“Because it was the first ‘thinking’ group offered [at the Carrington] I think it attracted a core group who have self identified and have been rewarded with more topics from a most talented leader that only elicit more questions for the next week. It truly is astounding the number of critical areas there have been for discussion.“
